Baked Custard Recipe for Babies Over 9 Months

Ingredients:​

  • 2 whole eggs
  • 2 extra egg yolks
  • 60g caster sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 500mL thin cream
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions:​

  1. Preheat the oven to 165°C. Place four custard cups or small ramekins in a baking tray and fill the tray with water to 1/3 of the height of the cups. Set aside.
  2. Heat the thin cream until scalding, then remove from heat.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract together until foamy. Gradually add the hot cream to the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
  4. Divide the mixture evenly among the four cups and bake for 50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Sprinkle each cup with a pinch of ground nutmeg and serve the custards warm or cold.
